Stephen's research centers on middleware support for adaptive computing, with particular focus on model driven paradigms, and on p2p applications research. He supervises 7PhD students. He is principal investigator for projects Sophie, Peerhosting, S&T Index, CCFI, with total research funding in excess of €600k. His recent work has appeared in ACM and IEEE-sponsored conferences. He holds a patent in adaptive software methodologies and was the recipient of the 2002 "Best New Technology Based Business" All-Ireland Innovation award for his work in the commercialisation of adaptive middleware. Stephen lectures in Distributed Systems and Advanced Networked Applications to final year undergraduate and Masters students.
