[2009-04-30] Introducing EMMON: a new 3-year ARTEMIS project on EMbedded MONitoring

DSG is taking part in EMMON, which is a new 3-year ARTEMIS project on EMbedded MONitoring. Launched in 2008, ARTEMIS is a Joint Technology Initiative that will manage and co-ordinate EU research activities on Embedded Computing Systems through a 10-year €2.5 billion research programme.

EMMON aims to support monitoring large geographical areas using Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) devices - small communicating & cooperative nodes with sensors. In particular, EMMON will investigate very large-scale WSNs, and aims to create technologies that allow effective monitoring with 10,000 to 100,000 devices, advancing WSN deployment size by one order of magnitude. DSG's participation in EMMON will be led by Vinny Cahill, and will focus on middleware and networking protocols.
